RAF Leuchars circa 1990

Designed to introduce an earlier period of military flying into FS2004, with aircraft and units of world air forces from nearly twenty years ago, RetroMil-AI has been set up to produce user friendly, semi-accurate traffic packages that, when installed, will build up into a fairly representational picture of what the skies were like just after the cold war thawed, and just before the Gulf got hot.

Our third package represents RAF Leuchars. It was the last UK station to receive the Tornado F3, with 43 squadron fully established during 1989, and 111 squadron in the process of re-equipping, which is why there are only two squadron aircraft present in this package. Meanwhile, the venerable Phantom soldiered on for a little longer, in the guise of 228 OCU, which trained pilots and navigators and prepared them for postings to units still operating the Phantom, at Wattisham (56 & 74 Sqns) and Wildenrath (19 & 92 Sqns) in Germany.

The flight plans are totally fictional, but the movements reflect the type of operation carried out by the units.
These plans were designed to fit around the scenery package from UKMIL and Phil Fisk which is available from http://www.ukmil.org.uk/download.php?view.220

You will need to register, but it is free.

Installation:
We will not get into the habit of telling people how to suck eggs, but we do need to share this information with people who may be new to installing this type of package, so please bear with us.

Unzip to a temporary folder. Then cut and paste into your main FS9 folder.

The other folders in this package can be placed directly into your main FS9 folder, overwriting as you go it will not overwrite anything you currently have.

The UKMIL scenery comes as an automatic installer you will need to use the RAFLeucharsFS9.exe; when the installer asks you whether to install the Tornado or Phantom version, select RAF Leuchars FS9 Present Day (Without AI), otherwise you will end with twice as many aircraft as is needed.

VOICEPACKS
There is a great tool to expand call signs within FS2004 called EditVP; we highly recommend this tool, which not only allows you to install call signs not default to FS9, but to create your own call signs as well. You can get it here:

http://www.editvoicepack.com/

Once installed, start it up and go to FILE, IMPORT and after the message, navigate to the call signs included in this package; you can multi-select by holding CTRL- and clicking on the files that you need. Then you will need to SAVE and then UPDATE VOICEPACK. Once that is done, you will hear the aircraft with their proper call signs.
