DPRepaints is proud to finally present RAF Wattisham 1990 for FS9.

Full squadron repaints of aircraft representing Nos. 56 & 74 Squadrons, based at RAF Wattisham during 1990.

Thanks to the work that Mike Pearson has done with Nick Blacks F-4 Phantom model, we can now present a more accurate range of loadouts on the Phantoms to show a more varied work load.

Also thanks to the team at MAIW for producing a rather nice scenery of Wattisham, and have given me permission to alter the afcad to more accurately reproduce the layout of the station during the 90s.

Full credits will be given at the end of this readme.

A couple of little pointers on this - you may notice that aircraft are coming through the doors of the hangars; this is a result of the amount of aircraft used by the squadrons. I have chosen to ignore engineering schedules, and both squadrons are at full strength, so I have had to include parking spots inside the hangars to accomodate this....I think its a small price to pay to see busy skies.

The flightplans involve the aircraft flying to other stations and waypoints both in the UK and overseas, and to this end I cannot do enough to recommend the packages from Chris A. Brown and Menno van den Boorgaard who have created more packages from this timeline. You can find them on avsim.com and flightsim.com.
I have used RipPipPip's excel-based flightplan maker so the plans are not totally accurate, but fairly well represent the operations carried out at this time - if you want to improve on them, please feel free to do so.

BEFORE INSTALLATION

You will need to download the following files, which can be found on avsim.com:

nmai_f-4m_raf_traffic.zip (Michael Pearson)

nmai_f-4j_v2_raf_traffic.zip (Michael Pearson)

maiw_army_air_corps_wah-64.zip (Military AI Works)

I will (dangerously) assume that people know how to create folders and sub-folders and know the basics behind creation of aircraft and scenery folders. If you don't, there are plenty of forums out there where you can ask those questions.

You will need to unzip the two phantom zips into a temporary folder; when you have done this, rename each one to:

#NMAI_McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR2_56 Sqn
#NMAI_McDonnell Douglas F-4J(UK)_74 Sqn

Then remove or delete ALL texture folders in both aircraft, and put both folders inside your main FS9 Aircraft folder.

Next, install the MAIW UK Apache folder into a temporary folder. You must do it like this unless you want AAC Apaches flying around the UK in 1990......which they didn't!

It is up to you if you want to install all of the AFCADS in the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. These will not directly affect this package.

You will need to install the MAIW Scenery Library Objects into FS9, as this will provide some of the buildings - make sure you put these at a lower priority than your Addon Scenery entry in the FS9 Scenery Library Manager.

In the MAIW UK Apache Bases, you will need to keep the following files:

maiw_uk_apache_library.bgl
MAIW_EXC_EGUW_DEFAULT.bgl
MAIW_UK_Apache_Waypoints_VTPP.bgl
MAIW_UK_Apaches_VTPP.bgl
MAIW_Wattisham.bgl

IMPORTANT: PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU DELETE THE MAIW_AFX_EGUW_DEFAULT file, otherwise this will cause a major upset when starting to fly from Wattisham!

Keep the texture folder in place, then rename the MAIW UK Apache Bases folder to RAF Wattisham. Put this folder into your FS9 Addon Scenery folder, and add to the FS9 Scenery in the usual way.

That's it.....I think.....

I would like to thank the following people for their contribution

Nick Black for his amazing F-4 model.

Michael Pearson for realising Nicks potential and taking the model further - you're a star mate! And for his paintkit as well.

VulcanDriver (John) and Tirithon (Greg Loones) from the MAIW forums, for the use of their Wattisham AFCAD

To the WHOLE MAIW team who keep providing all this really neat military stuff for us to play with.
